1 Identifying goals

Activity 1

Ask yourself what you’re hoping to achieve. Write it down. Then ask yourself why. Write that down too. Ask yourself why again, and keep asking until you can’t realistically ask why anymore. This should indicate that you have reached your end goal.

What do I want to achieve?
Why?
Why?
Why?

Example 1

Let’s take climate change legislation as an example.

You want people to understand that climate change legislation is urgent.

Why? Because you want them to take action to demand faster change from their governments.

Why? Because you want the government to enact climate-sensitive policies.

Why? Because you want to save the planet.

Why? Because…and here is where you may have reached your goal.
