Acknowledgements
This book is based on the Protracted Displacement Economies research project, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (Grant ref. ES/T004509/1) which ran from September 2020 to March 2024. We are particularly grateful to everyone who supported this research, many thousands of residents of displacement-affected communities across the 15 research locations who cannot be named. We hope that the research which has resulted from these methods justifies the time they gave up to be engaged. This was a large, international, comparative project, facing an unusually complex set of circumstances in terms of a global pandemic and dynamic conflicts in all countries involved in the research.
The Protracted Displacement Economies project was only possible because of the excellent research management and communications support of Frances Seballos and Sunit Bagree, we thank them for all their input, both administrative and intellectual. This book has benefitted greatly from the editorial support of Anna Andreoli and we thank her for her expertise, as well as her patience with us.
In addition to the large number of co-editors of this book and its chapter co-authors, research depended on teams of enumerators working in remote locations, as well as research assistance in the UK. We want to acknowledge all of these researchers. All those who are willing to be named are listed below, but there are others who prefer to remain anonymous who are not listed. We are grateful to them all and acknowledge that, despite this limited recognition, research would not have been possible without them.
